COURSE SADDLEBROOK
Step Aside Scramble
The Step Aside Scramble is a variant of the standard golf scramble format. In this format, each stroke played by the 4-person team (other than the drives) requires that one golfer sits out, or "steps aside," for that stroke.
Basics of the Step Aside Golf Format:
- Step Aside teams consist of four golfers each.
- On each hole, all four golfers hit drives.
- They select the best position among the four golf balls, just like in a standard scramble.
- However, the twist in the Step Aside format comes into play here:
- If Golfer B hit the best drive on Hole 1, Golfers A, C, and D move their golf balls to the spot of B's ball within one club-length of the selected ball and play their second strokes. Golfer B sits out for the second stroke.
- The same process continues, with one team member sitting out on each stroke (except the drive) until the ball is in the hole.
The format also allows for an optional $1.00 Charity Mulligan, providing one mulligan per person.
